Stunning Venue in a Beautiful Setting

Extensively refurbished in 2013, the building provides modern facilities that can accommodate up to 150 people for community events, weddings, concerts and more.

The Fountain Road Church (as it was at that time) opened in 1906 as the United Free Church. In 1936 the congregations of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland formed a Union. From this time, until the beginning of 1955, church services were held on alternate Sundays between the Fountain Road Church and St Andrews, the Church of Scotland. At the end of 1954, it was agreed that the Fountain Road Church would be used solely for the purposes of the Sunday School.

The hall had everything we needed i.e; tables, chairs, kitchen crockery, cutlery etc (ours was a smaller wedding so might not be the case if having larger numbers). We got the keys the day before so had plenty of time for setting up without having to rush. I’d highly recommend this venue for a wedding/wedding reception.

In 1969 the pews were removed from the Fountain Road Church and sold to Olrig Free Church in Castletown for the princely sum of £410. This then allowed more flexible use of the space within the building and it begun to be known as the Fountain Road Church Hall.

Perfect for Large Wedding Receptions

Go Golspie Development Trust has access to outside caterers who can provide locally sourced fresh produce and offer hot and cold meals, served with that special highland touch. The development trust also have a community bus that is available for use on the wedding day.

Between 2006 and 2010 an extensive improvement and upgrade of the building took place. A big fundraising initiative, well supported by the community, saw lots of funds raised. With the support of a professional fundraiser, several large grants were obtained. A biomass heating system was installed, an extension built with kitchen and toilets, the leaded windows were repaired and protected with toughened glass, the existing building was rewired and the premises were decorated throughout. Following this, the building became much more of a community resource and was used by youth organisations, dance and exercise groups and for weddings, children’s and family parties and for funerals.

When the Hall was put up for sale by the Church of Scotland, the community pulled together to make sure this valued resource would be retained for future use. Many members of the public pledged donations towards the purchase. This, along with Go Golspie Development Trust’s successful application to the Scottish Land Fund, enabled them to purchase the Fountain Road Hall early in 2021.
