Community Electric Car

A Means of Travel for those Without

As a result of local community consultation, we recognised that there was a lack of transport available for people to get to medical appointments both locally and further afield to Raigmore hospital, Caithness General hospital and now to the National Treatment Centre, Inverness.  We explored the options that were available to us and through the Climate Change Fund we were able to get some funding towards an electric car, which we had to match fund to make up the difference and we did that from our reserves

In February 2021 we took ownership of a great little Vauxhall Corsa E.  It has a range of around 200 miles which is generally enough to get us to our furthest appointments (and back!!). Since we put it into use, the car has been very busy with appointments locally, to Inverness and Caithness.

This has helped so many people who would not have been able to get to their appointments and it has been a great asset to the community.  If you need to get to an appointment and have no access to your own transport, then just complete the enquiry form at the foot of the page and get in touch and we will do what we can to help.

The funding for the electric vehicle was provided for the purpose of taking local residents to and from medical appointments locally and further afield. Transport can therefore only be provided to residents of Golspie, or those registered with Golspie Medical Practice.

The continued use of the car is made possible by people making generous donations to the charity and by our pool of volunteer drivers who support us with their valuable time.
