Community Car
A Means of Travel for those Without
As a result of public consultation we recognised that there is a lack of patient transport available for people to get to medical appointments both locally and further afield to Raigmore and Caithness General. So, we set about exploring the options that were available to us and through the climate change fund we were able to get some funding towards an electric car, we had to match fund to make up the difference and we did that from our reserves.
In February 2021 we took ownership of a great little Vauxhall Corsa E. It has a range of 200 miles which is more than enough to get us to our furthest appointments (and back!!). Since we put it into use it has hardly been off the road with daily appointments locally and regularly to Raigmore hospital, Inverness. This has helped so many people who would not have been able to get to their appointments and it has been a great asset to the community. If you need to get to an appointment and have no access to your own transport then get in touch below and we will see what we can do to help.
The funding for the electric vehicle was provided for the purpose of taking local residents to and from medical appointments locally and further afield. Transport can therefore only be provided to residents of Golspie, or those registered with Golspie Medical Practise.
The car is run on a donation basis.
