PRESS RELEASE – GO GOLSPIE DEVELOPMENT TRUST

Saturday 4 May 2019

Trip to the top of the Ben.

Now in its third year, the Ben Trip went ahead last Saturday ably coordinated by a founder member of Go Golspie Tracey Campbell. Despite concerns over the weather 50 people managed to make the trip to the top of the hill on Saturday 4 th May. We were especially delighted to help Margaret Mackay from Brora celebrate her 88 th birthday, she remarked that it was over 50 years since she last went up the Ben. What a way to celebrate your 88 th birthday!

Fundraising

Over £245 was raised in donations and from our raffle and this will help fund our ongoing development work. Thanks must go to the 7 drivers who gave their time and their 4 x 4 vehicles to transport folk to the top, one driver came all the way from Wick to help. A special mention must go to Naomi and Donald MacIvor for braving the cold at the top and taking photographs throughout the three vehicle convoys. We would also like to thank Grace of Dornoch for supplying eats and the Stagshead Hotel who have been a great supporter of this event over the last three years.

Community Bus

May is a busy month for Go Golspie, we have MIDAS training arranged for another 6 drivers on Sunday 12 May bringing our total number of drivers who can drive our community bus to 17. We have a waiting list for further training so anyone interested in driving please get in touch with us.

Saturday 24 May, Go Golspie will be running a fundraising and engagement event in the Fountain Road Hall from 11am to 3pm.

Pop Up Shop

Pop in and visit our pop up shop! We are delighted to welcome to Golspie a pop up fashion shop from Caithness (Coastline) who will be coming along on the day, we will also have local soaps for sale, and a little bit of fun and pampering; including hand massage, hair up and hair braiding, a nail bar and facepainting and also available will be soup and sandwich at a charge of £5 per head.
