Golspie is fortunate enough to have two large play park spaces, Ross Street play park on the north west side of the village and the King George V play park which is located on the south side of the main road (A9) as you approach the village from the south.
It has taken years of hard work from the Go Golspie Development Trust Play Park Subgroup to raise the money needed to refurbish both parks. King George V play park has been recently revitalised (December 2022), and it is now the turn for the Ross Street play park.
After research and consultation, contractors were contacted and ideas discussed. Potential plans were circulated to the community and Highland Council, funding was raised and consultation boards put into the schools and shown to the Golspie Youth Action Project Group for feedback. Children and young people placed stickers on their favourite pieces of equipment.
After consultations between Go Golspie Development Trust Play Parks Subgroup, the Highland Council and the Supplier – Proludic Equipment – the layout and costs were finalised and the order placed. It is hoped that work will start the week commencing 18th November 2024 with a view to an opening day before Christmas.
Ross Street Play Park
This is not the proposed layout but it gives an idea of the equipment ordered.
The new equipment will include wheelchair accessible equipment items and play panels (as chosen by the children/young people)
